Author Interview of Jane Yates


Where were you born and where do you call home?

I was born in Aldershot Hampshire England. I am divorced and have three children. 


What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 30 or less words, what would you say?

Therianthropy

This carries the story on from my first book Paradox Child, a lot of the open questions get answered but there is much more plot to come.


If you gave some of your characters an opportunity to speak for themselves, what would they say?

My characters do speak as they are based on real people please story’s is all made up. See group postings to see who’s who.


Do you have plans for a new book?   Is this book part of a series?

I have just finished the third book in this set of three. This will be the last of the series, will be out soon as I am waiting for the spelling to be checked.


What or who inspired you to write?  And how long have you been writing?

I am a new writer and I am dyslexic, so the success of my books and writing is as much a shock to me as I am sure it has been to the people who know and work with me. Read my story here.


How did you come up with the title and cover design?

The title comes from the plot in the story and Lilly the main character is a paradox child.
the cover was taken from a montage of a photo by "Mike Peckett" and then photo shopped by "Julia Collins". Its of an oxford church roof the book is based in oxford were I live.


Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?

I love paper backs , there is something great about getting a new book though the post. I am so grateful for Kindle e books as most of my readers use them, and I need my readers to keep me writing.


Where do you prefer to buy your books?

Always here on Amazon.


Are you a self published (Indie) Author?

All Indie. Although I would not say no to a book deal if I was offered one, its hard work being indie.


Are you a witch?

No… I don’t think so, although I make up a lot of spells for the books. The spell I made up I wish was the real the most is the spell for ironing. I hate ironing!


What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?

Just about to start The Caseworker's Memoirs from Dan Thompson


Is there anything you would change in your last book and why?

I would have liked to of been able to spell check myself but as I am dyslexic there is know way I can do that. So no.


Who's your target audience?

YA readers who like steampunk magic and time travel, romance without the bedroom bits!


Do you have a book trailer?

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Be kind to yourself and your readers.


What is the best advice that you have ever been given when it comes to writing?

My editor Sarah from the community paper www.leysnews.co.uk always gives me advice its very good, I wish I could remember the words to pass on. sorry

Do you write under a pen name?

No, I am just me


Do you ever write in your PJ’s?

Always


Cats or dogs?

I have two dogs that I write about in the books Buster and Mandy, Buster is really a human.


White wine or red?

I dont drink.


Coffee or tea?

Tea always . Coffee in the mornings.


Favorite food?

Cake


Vanilla or chocolate icecream?

Vanilla 


What do you normally eat for breakfast?

Usually do, love pancakes with butter


What are 4 things you never leave home without?

Purse, phone, keys, shoes


Laptop or desktop for writing?

Laptop as I cant spell without one.


Where and when do you prefer to do your writing?

I prefer to write in bed in the early hours


If you were deserted on an island, who are 3 famous people you would want with you?

Oprah Winfrey, that’s it, coz I think f there were other famous people on the island she might talk to them and not me!!

Alice in Wonderland, The Hungry Caterpillar - I just love the way he eats through everything, and Arabian Knights.

I love Any of the American actors that are over 40!
