Classically horror, “Man with the Blue Hat” revolves around one of those implacable juggernauts of terror, an entity so powerful it can compel basically normal individuals to murder, create community-wide insomnia, impel individuals to destroy each other with tools ranging from gossip and harsh words to actual physical violence, mob stonings, and destruction. What is it, or he? The Devil? A demon? An Angel of Destruction?

Beth has always been the “goody goody girl.” Following the rules should ensure success in life; but humans don’t always pay attention to rules, and so she finds herself divorced with a beloved adorable daughter, Kirsten. Discovering her former husband didn’t ever play by the rules of marital fidelity has rocked her, but she still stands strong-or so she thinks, until the entire community begins to turn on her, accusing her of bringing evil through the unnamed “him,” also sometimes called “the Man with the Blue Hat.” Beth insists she is not at fault, never at fault, she has always behaved in an exemplary fashion.

Over the course of the next few days Beth, however, will discover the truth, but not before concealed secrets come to life, friendships are destroyed, and multiple lives are lost.
