When he’s not out having fun and living his life again, Dan’s dealing with the ragged ends of his host’s brutal, often gruesome lifestyle. Before he’s kicked from their bodies, he has to make sure they can’t hurt anyone again. It’s part of his agreement with the Great Whomever. It sure beats the alternative—shut away in a no-dimensional prison for suicides like him. So it’s a pretty good gig.

Or at least it had been, until someone changed the rules.
