EASY LITERARY IMMORTALITY! 

I’m about to tell you my deepest secret. Even deeper than the one about my dad’s pet lama, the one he called “Easy”.

I’m no literary heavyweight. I’m just a guy who writes about living and traveling in Southeast Asia and tries to be useful about it.

So when it came down to writing my first comedy fantasy novel, - “String Theory-the Novel” -set in that same tropical paradise, -I had to do some serious thinking to figure out how I would be remembered for it for ten thousand years.

It turned out to be simple, and I’m happy to share my technique with you so you also can enter Writers Olympus.

A long while back, when  Hippies  preached it was enough to be human, no further status symbols needed, a gentleman named Douglas Adams wrote –while broke and living on his friends couch – a comic fantasy novel called “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”.

It was a swift, unbelievable success throughout the world.   A lot of pundits still wax eloquent about originality, wit, etc, and that is all true, but the book went nova because Mr. Adams in his originality and wit perfectly expressed, described, channeled, and surfed the emerging wave of marijuana/psychedelic drug humor that was surging around the globe with every new puff of smoke. His was the first comic novel to capture perfectly hippie drug humor – the absurdity, the standing on its head of logic, the deadpan recitation of nonsense.  He wove into his scenes and situations  the essence of a psychedelic experience- the accelerating  mind rocket that goes from  the sudden oddity of one thoughts  to talking rabbits in your suddenly tree filled living room  and then it gets far wackier from there.

He echoed perfectly in his writing the new global sense of humor.

And, he started that rush on the eternal Saturday night of his very first page –in the first chapter his Everyman Englishman meets a cheerful interstellar hitchhiker and both have their last pint of beer before the entire Earth is destroyed in a meaningless act of interstellar bureaucracy. It gets far wackier from there.

No William Burroughs graveyard dark humor for Adams either, the scenes and situations for all their absurdity are as unthreatening as sharing a pizza with your friends.

Mr. Adams went on to make The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy a trilogy.   Print, radio, movies, and generations of new readers went on to make “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy trilogy” by Douglas Adams” immortal.

My plan is simple.

Nobody knows their ass from their elbow these days unless some internet celebrity on a 60 inch plasma screen helps them with that.

A bestselling author, Adolph Hitler, once said that if you are going to tell a successful lie, make it big big big, make it simple, make it loud, and endlessly keep repeating it.

I am turning my comic novel “String Theory-the Novel”, into a similar comic trilogy.  I am going to keep repeating my advertising refrain that “String Theory –the Novel by Ken Silver” is the “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” of our times.   “Ken Silver… Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”, over and over again.  Imagine those words and sounds echoing virally through every nook and cranny of the limitless internet.  In ten thousand years of seeding the internet with that very phrase, making it go eternally viral,   I am sure the result will be that   Ken Silver will be known as the celebrated author of the immortal Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series.

Douglas Adams?  Due to another internet seeding campaign of mine he’ll be remembered as the third president of the United States.

Hey, it takes some computer work, and like Evolution, an awful lot of time, but it’s a lot easier than hard work and talent.

Meet Ken Silver 

Ken likes to go to the movies. Therefore he has moved to Bangkok Thailand, where the cinemas have new plush reclining seats and the ticket cost for 3D is six dollars American.

In between viewings of “Pacific Rim” and “Wolverine” he has written a series of guidebooks on living and travelling Southeast Asia on the cheap, easy, and comfortable.
