Martin and Victoria LeSeur try very hard to get straight. They've been in recovery for almost a century.

Victor, engaged to be married and adopted, searches out his birth parents. The LeSeurs strike him as cultured and sophisticated. His mother is absolutely beautiful. He finds them just in time to invite them to his wedding.

Victor is marrying up, and the wedding is taking place on the expansive grounds of the Waller estate. But before the ceremony starts, a mutilated body is discovered by a maid in the Waller mansion. And when the shock settles down, the LeSeurs turn up missing.

Victor's new found parents are the primary suspects. He can't believe it. Then Martin LeSeur contacts him. They have to meet. They have something important to tell him.

Victors learns that his parents are vampires -- and he is predisposed to be one himself. Victor laughs this off.

And then he discovers in himself a new and strange craving for blood, discovered when his fiancee cuts her foot on a trip to Maui, where they hope to get back on track. He discovers his lustful side as well -- and even hires a prostitute to cut her fingers for him, so he can suck the blood.

Victor learns more about vampires and goes to recovery meetings with his parents. There he meets an old girlfriend who broke his heart -- she dropped him because she didn't want to devour him! She teaches him how, with care, they can suck a little of one another's blood during rough lovemaking. Victor, though still officially engaged, now has a lover.

But all good compromises must come to an end. Making love to his fiancee, Victor gets carried away, bites her neck and almost kills her. Now he, too, must go on the run. He decides his real love is the old flame -- but she won't leave with him. She will not upset her fragile balance in and out of recovery.

Victor must face his future: does he join his parents in their struggle for recovery? Or look for the fragile balance of his old flame?
