As a fairy, Lauren has a lot of friends who are also distinctly “other,” like Calvron and Keegan, Anna and Donald. The problem is, she also has an emotionally abusive, controlling, and pathologically jealously possessive boyfriend, Tristen, himself a dark fairy. Proving that magical species can be jerks too, Tristen first isolates Lauren from her long-term friends, then occupies her time so that her grades, and hence her scholarship, are in danger; then he shows his true nature, in a humiliating and potentially terroristic fashion. It remains to Lauren and her true friends to stop Tristen if possible—before it’s too late for humankind.
“Lauren” is a spin-off story which is part of the “Keegan’s Chronicles” series by Julia Crane.
