The way we perceive an event directly relates to our emotions. That is to say that among the array of emotions we are capable of experiencing, we chose which emotion we will have in response to any given situation. Therefore, to be happier and more productive, we can learn to change our perception of situations and get in the habit of choosing more positive emotions.

In other words, if you adjust your perception, what you perceive changes. But first get in the habit of listening to your self-talk, which is where you will see how you choose your emotional response. Then you can begin to implement what you've learned, and choose preferred emotions.
