If you like sultry, Southern, mysterious, paranormal, sensuous, romantic, tension-racked, suspense, you are going to love “Veiled Eyes” and the series of which it is a part, “Lake People.” In the tiny community of Unknown, Louisiana, tucked away virtually out of sight except for tourism, is a populace bonded by hair and eye colour: black and gold. Almost all are descendants of several lineages, linked by the colouring and by their telepathy. Some have other psychic gifts as well. Outsiders are avoided, except for tourism, which is a lifeblood; but sometimes even tourists get too nosy.
Anna St. Thais is a product of a far West Texas orphanage, deposited there in early infancy, yet she has the colours, and she has the psychic link. So is she an outsider? Or is she “one of the family”? Who will make that decision? Who has the right to decide that? Anna undergoes a horrific encounter on her way to discovering who and what she really is.
