Mr. Limus Woods, graduate of Long Ridge Writers Group and The Institute of Children's Literature, has now released "The Top 5 Drugs in Hip Hop" an informational yet entertaining look at the most referred-to legal and illegal drugs within the music's culture over the last three decades.
"The Yayo"
This section focuses on cocaine, a drug that has been plaguing urban culture since the eighties. In order to keep a street image, many rappers have mentioned the substance in their lyrics, admitted to selling it themselves, or simply have traced their stage names after the most prominent drug dealers over the years.

Promethazine Syrup is used by more and more hip hop fans as the years pass. This section focuses on the slow-killing (but legal) drug and the how's and why's of its initial abuse on the Houston, Texas hip hop scene in the early 1990's.

Alcohol will always be mentioned by rappers in their lyrics, mostly because of the amount of revenue the substance brings into the culture. See how many rappers have turned their entrepreneurial eyes to this big money maker within the hip hop industry.

Ecstasy has slowly made its way from the rave scene to hip hop, as well as into many artist’s lyrics. Nowadays, this dangerous designer drug is almost always catered to the younger, hip hop generation.
"Greenery"
Hip hop lovers have supported marijuana's recreational use since the days when the legalization of it was no more than hopeful thinking. Many artists today don't seem to mind getting caught with it, and the constant arrests of the culture's most loved performers always gives the media fresh dirt to throw around.
