Don't go too near the Edge
by John Osipowicz

“Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come.”
--Mark, 13:33

“We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.
--Luke, 7:32

Can a young girl from a small town in the Midwest find happiness in fast-paced New York City?
Of course not, but she tries. Halli Briton, by default, has taken a job with a literary agency. She has the boss from hell, but Halli is surviving. One night this boss is murdered, and within weeks two other agents meet the same fate. A cryptic note is left at the murder scenes. Not for Me, it simply says.

Halli meets up with a detective investigating these murders, and she is really not into sleuthing, but she likes the sleuth himself. So she is drawn into these cases, and soon her world is turned upside-down.

Are your friends really your enemies? The serial killer gets very close to her without Halli knowing it. At first she is sure she knows who it is and begins to be obsessed with tracking that person down. She is led to Italy where she commits an unspeakable act. It seems to have solved everything, but it only causes the terror to begin.

Halli is trying hard to be independent, but if only people would quit dying she could stop being an amateur detective and pursue her first love which is writing.
She hooks up with another writer—a famous one—and that’s when her real troubles begin. She chases him to Italy. You see it now, don’t you?

And even if you don’t see it you will see it all through Halli’s eyes as she loses parents, lovers, and maybe her life. But never fear—she will be saved by a wimp.

Already, I have told you too much.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
John Osipowicz was born in Madison, Wisconsin and graduated (cum laude) from the University of Notre Dame. After college, he worked in advertising for the Chicago Tribune and then migrated into teaching, mainly in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Currently he lives across from a horse farm, thirty miles west of Philly. He has a dog old enough for Social Security and a cat so fat it's been mistaken for a raccoon. His hobbies are whimsy and leisure. The key to writing, he feels, is the ability to construct the next sentence.
