Emotionally Compromising
by Corey Burkes
I wrote this story after I heard, during the filming of Amistad, Blacks were called in to specifically handle placing the shackles on Black actors portraying slaves. I often wondered how an actor, who had to say and do things that were a part of history, coped with the emotions that may not be part of his or her character.
This story encourages everyone to understand that not everybody is a racist regardless of their color and there is actually a lot more communal love for one another than we know.
