Why you should own your own website and not use a free service?

There are a lot of services out there that will offer you a free website such as BlogSpot, Squidoo and many others. You get your free domain hosting and a place to share your content. But the problem with these free services is that you are a prisoner to their terms and conditions. They might limit your hosting space, they will throw ads on your site/blog to make money for themselves, they will tell you what you can and can’t write about, they might get shut down and take your site down as well and so on, you get the point. At the end of the day you want to own your land, and be able to design your website how you like, put whichever content you want and not being limited to other company/entity frame of work. Not to mention that if you are planning to make money from your site by promoting products or services, it is extremely unprofessional and will definitely hurt your business if you promote a free website.

How much does it cost to make a website?

A few bucks a months for hosting and domain name. Think of a business that needs to rent a physical location to operate, they pay much more than a few bucks a month. This small investment will pay itself back and more very quickly.

I’m afraid it is too complicated for me.

Well I understand where you are coming from, as I used to be a newbie as well. But one of the reason I created this guide is that I felt people like you need a simple easy to understand guide to build their own WordPress site. And I wrote it in a way that even a complete beginner can easily understand and implement the instructions (also the guide has images and videos for further assistance).

Whether you want to create a simple WordPress blog or build a professional site for your business this guide is where you should start, so let’s get started!
