The Long Thorn - Kindle Fiction

The Long Thorn
by Charles Steed

Strange things are afoot in a sleepy community when two young girls decide to cultivate mysterious black bulbs as their summer project. Hannah, the elder of the two is nearly spellbound with the growing project and somehow magically knows the plants are special, far beyond special actually. Once the plants sprout the mischief begins as people getting too close to these unusual plants become irrationally devoted to the them and begin to do their evil bidding. Some might even call their devotees Zombies.

Mister Artiboo, the owner of the nursery from which the bulbs originated does some checking and discovers the plants are the genius of Princess Zorga, a sly and wicked woman who has been systematically placing the plants into various California cities and towns and gaining control of both citizens and local governments. Mr. Artiboo uncovers the secret to neutralizing the madness. But will he be able to put it to use in time? One can only hope.

The Long Thorn is an unsettling story written for adolescents and young adults. It’s short (3000 words), humorous and disturbing all at the same time. If you’re looking for Zombie Lite, you’ve found it with The Long Thorn. Great as a Halloween bedtime story.
